How To Beat Procrastination And Overwhelm

Alright let's dig in!

So all this talk about starting your own business means nothing if you don’t actually carve out the time to do the work!  What I’m going to do is give you the nuts and bolts tactics for significantly increasing your chances of outlining, building and releasing your online course.  Your online course will become your flagship product and all your email campaigns and marketing efforts will drive traffic toward this end.

We’re going to start with some brass knuckles strategies for making sure your online course gets completed.  Then in the next three lessons I’ll walk you through the blueprint for outlining, building, recording, uploading and releasing your online course.  I’m taking three lessons to do this because I want to break down the entire process into easily digestible bite-sized chunks.

My Tae Kwon Do Story

I love being a dad.  A few months ago my wife and I made the decision that both our boys would be taking martial arts, specifically Tae Kwon Do.  My older son who is currently four years old, showed a great deal of trepidation in the beginning.  He was afraid of the new environment, the new kids, the strange instructor garnishing a black belt barking “hee ya!” orders at him.  It was scary.  And honestly, I think he had every legitimate reason to be afraid.  The training was specifically geared for tiny tots but it was still hands-on combat in a new environment.

But, despite these challenges, my wife and I made the commitment to continue sending him twice a week, every week.  We’ve been going for a few months now and I’m amazed at how much progress he has made.  As a dad, I’ve been able to see the incremental steps he’s taken to conquer his fears, stay disciplined and continue making progress.

He had his white belt test the other day and it was awesome!  He passed!  He went through all the moves, broke all the boards and came out on top.  It was an amazing feeling to see my little guy pull this off.

All the crying, all the complaining, all the long evenings of dragging him out the house to go to Tae Kwon Do was starting to pay off and my son was starting to experience the fruit of his own labor.

This Isn’t Your Hobby!

Now the point of this story is that this:

If you want to get results in your online business you need to stop treating it like a hobby and start treating it like a real business.

Practically, this means you’ll commit to making the completion of your online course a reality by consistently putting in an hour a day, every day, until it’s done.

And when you get behind, because you WILL get behind, you’ll commit to not beating yourself up.  The way to pull this off is to schedule your course creation process like you would schedule a project.  Put it on your calendar, in Outlook, in your iPhone, in your Droid... do whatever it takes to get it on the calendar so that it becomes a tangible goal you can complete.

So I’m asking you to commit to consistently working on your course a little bit each day.

I mean, if you skip a day don’t worry; that’s okay, but I need you strive to complete a little bit every day until its done.

To help you achieve this process I created the 28 day challenge.

This is a free challenge you can take where I’ll show you how to start from nothing but a vague idea and finish with a tangible digital asset you can sell to the world, all within 28 days.

To get started go to right now.

Take Your Time

One of the biggest challenges I struggled with when I was building my online business was that I just wanted to rush and create a crappy product and sell it so I could get money.

Please, please please learn from my mistakes: this is a very bad strategy.  At the very best your product will be mediocre and at the worst it will be a complete embarrassment.  I don’t want this to happen to you.  Instead, I want you to take a non-hurried, non-rushed, careful approach where you are enjoying each phase of the product creation process.

Embrace The Community

One of the advantages you have from this program is that you can reach out to other people who are having similar troubles in the comments section.  The other thing you can do is actually reach out to me, your trainer.

When you join the mailing list, I’ll send you a series of emails that can help keep you on track as you build your online course.  For most people, reading these emails and completing the action items in small steps will be enough to keep you going.  But if you discover that you want to go deeper you can jump into our SGX Mastermind Community where you will find the long-term support you might need to get your business rolling.
